Bold Bath Design: Herringbone Tile & Green Vanity
A couple who lived in Wauwatosa’s Olde Hillcrest neighborhood reached out to us. They recently purchased their home and wanted to remodel the bathroom. After showing them designs of the new space, Kowalske Kitchen & Bath was hired as the remodeling contractor. The goal of this Wauwatosa bathroom remodel was to create a luxurious, contemporary spa-like space. The couple also wanted to make it more functional, as it’s the only full bath in their home.
The space evokes a feeling of calm and relaxation, with white, gray and green accents. We especially love how the mirror and oversized backsplash complement the minimalistic design so effortlessly.
Layout Issues Solved
The original space felt tight and cramped with a soffit, two awkward closets and a chimney. Since the chimney wasn’t being used, we removed it and expanded the bathroom into the hallway closet.
By opening the space, we had room for both a bathtub and walk-in shower. The homeowners never imagined they could have both!
The layout allowed for a large vanity with drawers. A small cabinet with shelves near the doorway provides additional storage.
This bathroom is simple and stylish. We created a blissful sanctuary with glossy white herringbone tile, sleek green cabinetry, satin nickel finishes and warm wood textures. A unique design feature is the round wood mirror that is integrated into the quartz backsplash.
The highlight of this bathroom is the shower ledge with wood-look tile. The ledge runs the length of the bathtub and ends inside the shower. The custom glass shower door fits right into the ledge for a sleek look. Dimmable lights were installed for ambiance. The tiled tub deck extends into the shower for a bench.
“We worked with [Kowalske] on updating the bathrooms in our 1948 Colonial home. [The] design fit our aesthetic perfectly, and we were extremely happy with the modern updates that were made. All of the tradespeople and contractors did great work and the job finished on time. We will be working with them again to remodel our kitchen.” – Mary, Google Review
