Stunning Cape Cod Cottage Remodel

Kowalske Kitchen & Bath was hired as the design build remodel contractor to transform this 1940s cape cod in Delafield, WI. This cottage remodel included the kitchen, two bathrooms, and cosmetic updates to the bedrooms and breezeway.

The goal was to restore the historic beauty of this home. We worked with the homeowner from the design stage through construction. We ensured every detail of the interior and exterior remodel was perfect.

Cottage Kitchen Remodel

The center of this home is the incredible kitchen. The original space had soffits, outdated cabinets, laminate counters and was closed off from the dining room. We removed the peninsula and added an island with seating. The new kitchen has beautiful quartzite counters, a farmhouse sink, subway tile backsplash, custom inset cabinets, mullion glass doors and beadboard wainscoting.

2 Vintage Bathrooms

The two full bathrooms are full of character. We installed carrara marble basketweave floor tile, beadboard, custom cabinetry, quartzite counters and custom lighting. The walk-in showers feature subway tile, Kohler fixtures and custom glass doors.

Exceptional Historic Details

The entire home is full of exceptional historical details. We refinished the original hardwood floors and staircase. We added glass interior door knobs, Victorian-inspired Kohler faucets, three-panel doors, iron railings and traditional molding. The home features beautiful etched custom lighting and custom hardware.

Cottage Exterior Work

The home’s exterior was updated with an authentic European cottage feel.

• Added carriage style custom garage doors to match the new trim and siding.
• Installed new exterior doors and a set of french doors onto the deck.
• Other updates: new front steps, decking, a lannon stone pathway, custom lighting and ornate iron railings.

This Lake Country, Wisconsin home will be enjoyed by the family for many years.
