Eclectic Kitchen with Jewel Tone Cabinets

This eclectic kitchen is fun and full of personality – dark moody cabinets, a geometric backsplash, shiplap hood and unique lighting. The goal of this kitchen remodel was to create a more open entertaining space, add a large island with seating, and have plenty of organized storage.

Project Challenges

• Mechanical Updates – Removing the kitchen soffits and moving the dining room doorway meant we had to reroute HVAC and plumbing. We made the dining room doorway extra wide to hide the HVAC in the wall. 

Highlights of this Eclectic Kitchen

• Eclectic Design – The kitchen is eclectic, mixing a variety of styles into one cohesive design. This kitchen features shiplap, bold color, and a geometric backsplash and pendant lights with a touch of mid century modern design. We love how this kitchen is fun and full of personality! 
• Improved Layout – The old U-shaped kitchen layout wasn’t working for the client. There were soffits, an unused desk and cabinets that hung between the kitchen and dinette. Now, the kitchen is wide open with more natural light, a large island and functional storage. 
• Jewel Tone Cabinets – The client wanted a dark moody cabinet color (mountain midnight V-139-6). The blue-green shade adds a pop of color and pairs well with the white oak hood and pantry cabinets.  
• White Oak Hood – The hood and wall of pantry cabinets is a beautifully stained “farmhouse brown” on rustic white oak. 
• Microwave Cabinet – The hidden microwave appliance cabinet has pivot pocket doors that slide into the cabinet. This allows the cabinet to remain open without the doors in the way. 
• Pantry Cabinet – A floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinet has rollout shelves for easy access to everyday items. 
• Beverage Center Cabinet – Next to the kitchen sink is an appliance cabinet for hiding the coffee maker and sparkling water maker. 
• New Lighting – The lighting includes pendants over the island, sconces above the open shelving, recessed lights, and strip lighting under the open shelving. 
• Gold & Brass Finishes – The gold and brass cabinet hardware and lighting bring warmth to cool the blue/green cabinet color along with the warmer wood tones.
