Gorgeous Green Kitchen Island | Brookfield, WI

A couple reached out because they wanted to transform their outdated Brookfield, WI kitchen. This incredible kitchen remodel has a green kitchen island, fish scale tile backsplash, a gas fireplace and custom hood. The design is transitional with both contemporary and traditional elements.

The Original Kitchen

The original kitchen was cut off from the living room and dining room, only accessible through a tight hallway. The cabinets were crowded around a small island. In addition, the space felt heavy with a large red brick fireplace in the center and stained wood cabinetry on three sides.

The homeowners wanted the kitchen more connected and accessible to the rest of the home. They also wanted a bigger island where they could prep food and spend time together. Also, a cooktop in the island was a safety concern for their young children.

Brookfield, WI Kitchen Highlights

  • Improved Layout – Removing the hallway wall opened up this Brookfield kitchen to better connect the spaces. Now, the new large island gives them space for family activities – baking cookies, doing homework, hosting parties, and eating meals together.

  • Fireplace – The fireplace brick was painted white and we added a wood mantel above the gas fireplace to mirror the wood detail on the range hood.

  • Green Kitchen Island – The kitchen island is dark green (Rock Garden SW-6195), which adds a fresh pop of color.

  • Lime Wash Custom Hood – The hood has a lime wash treatment for a beautiful custom texture.

  • Fish Scale Tile Backsplash The homeowner requested the fish scale tile backsplash, which adds texture and visual interest.

  • Brushed Bronze Finishes – Brushed bronze hardware, plumbing fixtures, appliance pulls and lighting ties the kitchen design together.

  • Pine Flooring – One of the biggest challenges was matching and installing the pine wood flooring with hand driven nails.

  • Drawer Storage – The family needed an organized kitchen. Therefore, we recomended drawers versus cabinets, making it easy to store pots, pans, bowls and kitchen equipment.
