Basement Rec Room | Hartland, WI
A Hartland, WI family wanted to remodel their unfinished basement. We transformed the cold and dark basement into a warm and fun space for this family. They needed space for the kids to play, especially during the winter when Wisconsin is cold. They also like to entertain and wanted a TV area for watching sports and movies. We created a basement rec room that is multifunctional and can be adapted as the kids get older.
The design is contemporary with moody dark gray trim and a herringbone luxury vinyl tile floor.
Hartland Basement Features
- Kids Rec Room – The kids needed open space all their own where they could run, play, read and be creative.
- Under the Stairs Reading Nook – Instead of wasting the space under the stairs, we converted it into usable play space for the kids. The cozy nook gives the kids a place to relax and read. The cubbies are the perfect size for books and small toys.
- Half Bathroom – The bathroom vanity is painted the same moody gray (Benjamin Moore – Cheating Heart – 1617) as the trim and doors throughout the basement.
- Bench Nook – At the basement stairs landing, we added a bench with shelving. Before, there was a shallow and awkard closet behind this area.
- Storage – Several storage closets were reconfigured for kids games, toys and seasonal items.
