Wet Room with Fluted Wood-Look Tile
A Pewaukee couple contacted us to update their primary bathroom. The homeowners complained that the sinks were too close for their liking, the shower was closed in, the toilet room was closed in, and they really wanted a freestanding soaking tub. Kowalske redesigned the space, turning the awkward layout of this Pewaukee bathroom into a bright and modern wet room. The beautiful, functional space has a larger shower, bathtub and two separate vanities.
Challenges
- Remove the walls of the toilet room, shower and closet to create a more open space
- Switch the location of the toilet and shower
Highlights of this Wet Room:
- Wet Room with Shower & Bathtub – The only window was previously hidden in the toilet room. Now, the whole bathroom is flooded in natural light with a beautiful soaking Kohler bathtub and a spacious and open zero entry shower.
- Wood-look Tile – The eye immediately focuses on the porcelain fluted wood-look tile behind the bathtub that brings a warmth to the space. We selected four different tile choices for the bathroom: a porcelain fluted wood look, a charcoal matte black tile, a gray penny tile, and a matte white tile. The black tile provides a stunning contrast with the wood tile, and the white/gray tiles creates a subdued backdrop for the other two statement tiles.
- Two Separate Alder Wood Vanities – The homeowners wanted separate vanities so they could each have their own space when getting ready at the same time. One is now to the right of the doorway and the other is to the left of it.
- Creative Lighting – Lighted mirrors above the vanities provide ample lighting when getting ready in this wet room. Toe-kick lighting under the cabinets provides mood lighting and automatically turns on, which is especially helpful during the night.

Homeowner Review
“Kowalske Kitchen & Bath remodeled both our kitchen island and our Master Bathroom, and the entire experience from start to finish was top notch. Kim worked with us in the showroom to create images of our desired outcome and then brought samples together to share with us so we could truly handpick the most unique options to make our vision come true.
Once construction began, we communicated with Kim, Aaron and the rest of the crew via an app that gave us daily updates of what work would be done and names of crew members that would be on site that day. It was such an easy process and we felt that the communication and work effort were excellent throughout the entire demo and construction of our space.
The final results were breathtaking and we cannot express adequately in words how truly grateful we are for the superior customer service and craftsmanship we received from Kowalske’s team to create the bathroom of our dreams!”
