Stunning Lake Home Remodel in East Troy

contractor East Troy

First Floor Remodel | Lake Beulah Home

This stunning first floor remodel in East Troy on Lake Beulah includes the kitchen, pantry, mudroom, living room and dining room. The space was dated and the homeowners wanted to modernize the space into a relaxing getaway. Now, the main living area flows between the kitchen, dining room and living room. A large island provides space for cooking, seating and entertaining. Beyond the kitchen, a new pantry and mudroom provide organized storage for the family and their guests. Highlights of this lake home include shades of blue and white, brass finishes, arched doorways, and a pretty wallpapered pantry.

Highlights of this lake home remodel:

  • Nautical Color Palette – The old kitchen was dark and dated. Now, the kitchen is bright and airy with navy and white cabinets. A glazed ceramic backsplash tile is elegant and simple.
  • A Polished Pantry – We love a good pantry and this lake home pantry might be our all-time favorite. The patterned wallpaper takes this room from bland to wow! It has everything you could want including arched doorways, butcher block countertops, a coffee station, and a  hot water tap. The cabinet hardware (latches, cup pulls and knobs) gives the pantry a vintage butlers pantry feel, like it has been around for ages.
  • New Kitchen Island  – The new large island allows for great views of the lake when working at the sink, a large space for food prep, and a great gathering space to hangout.
  • Dining Room Dry Bar – The dining room now feels more elegant. We replaced a small built-in cabinet with a larger wall-to-wall cabinet, beverage refrigerator and brass art lights. A beautiful marble mosaic backsplash, hickory shelves and brass finishes makes the space feel sophisticated. In order to make room for the larger buffet cabinet, the homeowners had to sacrifice some space in the spare bedroom behind the cabinet, to allow for the deep cabinets.
  • Arched Doorways – Admire the arched doorways from the mudroom into the pantry and into the kitchen.
  • Brass Finishes – Brass hardware, lighting and plumbing fixtures tie this lake home together.
  • Kitchen Storage – The kitchen has some great storage options: cabinets, drawers, a dish storage peg system. Two refrigerator drawers for cold beverages near the deck entrance, make it easy for grabbing a drink on the way outside!
  • Range Hood Feature Wall On the range wall, we replaced big and bulky cabinets with open shelving and a curvy hood, for a more inviting cooking area.
  • Modern Fireplace – For this remodel in East Troy, we refreshed the living room fireplace wall with a gas fireplace, adjustable shelving and a large television. The homeowners wanted each shelf to be lit up so we used a combination of in-cabinet lights and routed groove LED strip lights.
  • Updated Mudroom/Laundry Room – In the old laundry room, the washer/dryer both stuck out into the walkway. We updated the room to include a drop-zone for coats and shoes (hooks and drawers) and moved the washer/dryer to the opposite wall.
  • Dog Features – The mudroom and laundry room has a special place for the homeowner’s dog! A pot filler faucet makes it easy to fill the water dish each day. The dog dish area is made of quartz to protect the area from splashing water. A double garbage pullout hides the bags of dog food.
  • Paper Towel Dispenser – Next to the farmhouse sink is a paper towel roll dispenser built into the cabinets.
  • Cabinet Hardware Cabinet hardware is like jewelry for cabinetry and we spent a lot of time finding just the right ones. The kitchen cabinets have pulls on the drawers and knobs on the upper cabinets. The dining room is intentionally opposite with knobs on the drawers and pulls on the upper cabinets. It may not jump out at you right away, but it makes a subtle statement.
  • Kitchen Lighting –  The kitchen has two articulating brass sconces, one on either side of the hood. Two pendant lights are centered over the island and are both stunning and subtle at the same time. Under cabinet lighting ensures enough countertop lighting and can be used as ambient mood lighting.
