Nature-Inspired First Floor Remodel

Gold Award

NARI ROTY award

$100,000 – $250,000

The first floor of this 1988 Delafield, WI contemporary home did not work for this young family. The kitchen was tucked in the back corner of the house with a laundry area in the dinette. We moved the kitchen to the center of the home and tucked the laundry room in the old kitchen behind a sliding door. A widened hallway to the garage is now a spacious mudroom. Additional windows bring in more sunlight and views of their beautiful wooded lot. An appliance garage and workstation sink add functionality. We re-used windows and cabinets to keep the project sustainable and budget-friendly.

Black & White 1930s Kitchen

Gold Award

NARI ROTY award

This 1934 kitchen in Shorewood, WI was overdue for a makeover. The space was cramped for a family of five, with little countertop space or storage. They wanted a kitchen where they could spend time together cooking, doing homework and artwork. To expand the kitchen, we opened the wall into the adjacent laundry room and relocated the washer/dryer to the basement. The design fits this historic home with shaker cabinets, subway tile backsplash and a simple black and white color palette. Highlights of this kitchen include a custom plaster hood with wood detail, appliance cabinet, workstation sink, and desk with TV area.
